Chanel's love affair with Scotland continues with this year's Métiers d'Art taking place at Linlithgow Palace, birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots.
This love affair stretches back to the time when Gabriel 'Coco' Chanel embarked upon a relationship with the Duke of Westminister and much of their time was spent in the region of Sutherland, in the Scottish Highlands. Her use of tweed or bouclé can be traced back to this time, when the Duke of Westminister wore the traditional handwoven material a lot to hunting and fishing trips.
